We have a staff of trained movers and use well-maintained, professional trucks and equipment.
The Moving Crew is the culmination of the shared vision of owners/movers Mike Shaffer and Andy Zuker who bring years of experience in the moving industry together to form a new kind of moving company: one that is personal, professional, accountable, and focused on achieving success by doing great moves and being active contributors to our community.
Friends since college, Mike and Andy were both born and raised in Michigan but moved to the Sacramento region in July of 2006 and quickly felt at home with the natural beauty and the culture of Northern California. When the guys are not packing boxes, moving furniture, or helping families or businesses plan for a move they are likely gathering friends for hiking, tubing on the American River, biking on the Sacramento River trail, or just enjoying life in this region from the Gold Rush ghost towns to the vibrant crowds of midtown and Old Sacramento.
Mike started working in the moving industry almost 8 years ago and has experienced the many different aspects of the trade firsthand. He has worked within a moving franchise system, both in the corporate office and as a franchisee. He has personally performed over 1000 moves from small furniture rearrangements to large-scale commercial moves involving several trucks and a team of more than a dozen movers. He has estimated local, long-distance, and interstate moves as well as packed priceless works of art using special materials. He is a very skilled mover and is great with modular office furnishings and cubicles.
No stranger to hard work, Andy grew up in a family business and began his time in the moving industry in 2006 as a mover, estimator, marketing guy, and company owner. Growing up helping customers has taught him a real love for communication and community. Andy learned the complex laws and regulations of the moving business and the trucking industry, and works diligently to stay informed of changes and be in full safety and legal compliance. He enjoys connecting with other businesses and networking, as well as helping customers prepare for a move. A life-long musician and former piano factory employee, Andy is the Moving Crew’s piano moving expert and is also skilled with many other specialty items such as grandfather clocks.
Since moving to the area Mike and Andy have proudly volunteered their time and services to organizations such as the Sacramento Food for Families Program, the Placer ASPCA, the Boys and Girls club of Auburn, local chambers, schools, churches, and more.
